• SSH - For Linux/Solaris Systems
• WMI - For Windows servers
• SNMP - For any network device
• Telnet - If we don't have the protocol, you can simulate the protocol through telnet, or use it as it was originally intended, for connecting to systems, although very insecure
• FTP - File transfer Protocol
• HTTP - WWW Access - will exercise the protocol, so 404/500/etc errors, will mark the service as down, not just check to see if the port is open
• POP3 - Basic Email POP3 access management
• SMTP - Test your outgoing mail server
• MySQL - Run tests against your MySQL systems
• Oracle - Same with Oracle!
• PostgreSQL - PostgreSQL, too.
